The ICMA winners 2020 are published

The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) today announced the Awards for 2020 which mark the tenth anniversary of this prestigious musical recognition. Austrian-Russian pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja is honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Latvian soprano Marina Rebeka is Artist of the Year, Italian cellist Erica Piccotti is Young Artist of the Year. The Discovery Award is awarded to 16-year-old German cellist Philipp Schupelius. Discovery Award Gewinner Robert Neumann debütiert mit dem SWR Symphonieorchester

Der 18-jährige Pianist Robert Neumann, Gewinner des Discovery Award der ICMA im Jahre 2017, seit 2018 SWR2 New Talent, gibt am 29. Januar sein Debüt mit dem SWR Symphonieorchester Stuttgart unter der Leitung von Kerem Hasan, Gewinner des Young Conductors Award der Salzburger Festspiele. Neumann spielt bei diesem Konzert, sowie beim Abendkonzert am 31. Januar in der Stuttgarter Liederhalle Rachmaninows Rhapsodie über ein Thema von Paganini für Klavier und Orchester op. 43. Das Konzert vom 31. Januar wird ab 20:00 live auf SWR2 übertragen.

Hochschullehrende beraten über Kultur der Lehre

Auf Initiative von Drazen Domjanic, dem Leiter der Internationalen Musikakademie in Liechtenstein und Reinhart von Gutzeit, ehemaliger Rektor der Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz und des Mozarteums in Salzburg, hat sich ein internationaler Arbeitskreis für Hochschullehrende gebildet, zu dem sich die Musik Akademie Basel, die Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, die Universität Mozarteum Salzburg und die Musikakademie in Liechtenstein verbunden haben. ‘Neue Impulse für die Kultur der Lehre und das Hochschulleben’ ist das Thema, mit dem sich die Mitglieder des Arbeitskreises befassen. In 2020, during the Croatian EU Presidency, Rijeka will be European Capital of Culture. One of the first events to take place ahead of the official program is the General Assembly of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). In three rounds, the Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) has chosen the releases competing in the finals for the awards 2020. « Our initial list with a total of 390 nominations comprised many very good as well as outstanding recordings. This long list has been reduced to three releases per category, our finalists for 2020 », Jury President Remy Franck said. « Inevitably, many excellent productions have been eliminated. The jury members tirelessly make it a duty of honor to select the very best among the best recordings. The task is definitely demanding and requires sometimes painful choices. Eva Gevorgyan, ICMA’s Discovery Award winner 2019, is at her young age already a busy concert pianist. In November she played a recital at Alzenau Musiktage, Germany. In October she had recitals in Boston, Cleveland and Canton/Ohio where she also performed with the Canton Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gerhardt Zimmermann. In summer she played recitals in Italy (Como and San Daniele) and Poland (Duszniki Chopin International Piano Festival). At the Verbier Festival (Switzerland) she was student-in-residence.
