Together with the Luxembourgish pianist Sabine Weyer, ICMA Artist of the Year 2015, Yury Revich, gave a stunning recital at Ettelbrucks’ Cape in Luxembourg, on February 3. The musicians began their demanding program with a passionate reading of Robert Schumann’s Violin Sonata op. 105, followed by a full-bodied Richard Strauss Sonata. A glittering account of Ravel’s Second Sonata, sensitively played Debussy preludes and a hot-blooded Tzigane got rave applause from the audience. The concert was attended by ICMA President Remy Franck.

The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) announced today the Awards for 2016. Soprano Dame Felicity Lott is honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Composer, trombonist and conductor Christian Lindberg is Artist of the Year, cellist Pablo Ferrandez Young Artist of the Year. For the first time the new Discovery Award for musicians from 12 to 18 is awarded to flutist Nikolai Song, born in 2002, of Korean-Russian parentage. Read More →

Katowice Is Now A UNESCO City of Music

Katowice in southern Poland has been awarded the status of UNESCO City of Music. The Silesian city boasts such prestigious ensembles as the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra with its recently-opened concert hall, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Silesian Quartet, and the Camerata Silesia Choir. Katowice is also the venue of thirty music festivals. It will host the International Classical Music Awards ICMA in 2018. Katowice is the first Central and Eastern European city to win the title.

Die von dem Pianisten und zweimaligen ICMA-Preisträger Joseph Moog sowie der Deutschen Radio Philharmonie unter der Leitung des Dirigenten Nicholas Milton eingespielte CD mit Klavierkonzerten von Edvard Grieg und Moritz Moszkowski wurde in der Kategorie ‘Best Classical Instrumental Solo’ für den Grammy nominiert. Sie wurde auch für den ICMA 2016 nominiert.
