Am Donnerstag, dem 26. Februar 2015 um 19.50 Uhr sendet das Fernsehen ORF III in der Sendung ‘Kultur Heute’ einen Bericht von Ani Gülgün-Mayr über ‘Young Artist of the Year 2015’ Yury Revich. Der 23-jährige russische Geiger wurde bei den ‘International Classical Music Awards’ für sein zuletzt eingespieltes Album « Mozart & Sarasate » und seine Auftritte als Solist in den weltweit prestigereichsten Konzertsälen prämiert.

ICMA Warns Over Danger Of Confusion With New Organization

In the Netherlands, an organization is presenting itself under the name of ICMA 2015 – International Classical Music Auditions, with a corporate identity resembling very much to the one of the International Classical Music Awards, ICMA. The ICMA’s President, Remy Franck, said: « We are upset that music professionals are using our name, internationally known since 2010, and present it with a logo very similar to ours for their own purposes. I would like to underline that ICMA International Classical Music Awards has absolutely nothing to do with that organization, and we only can hope that the possible confusion will not harm the international recognition and independence of ICMA International Classical Music Awards. »

During their General Assembly in Leipzig, last weekend, the ICMA Jury members elected the ICMA Executive Board for the next three years. The current board members, Remy Franck as President, Michelle Debra and Pierre-Jean Tribot as Vice Presidents as well as Martin Hoffmeister were confirmed, while the vacant seat of Stephen Hastings was taken by Serhan Bali, editor in chief of the Turkish magazine Andante. ICMA Jury Meeting In Leipzig

This weekend, at the very beginning of Leipzig’s millennium, the Jury of the International Classical Music Awards is meeting in the Bach city, at the invitation of the Bach Archiv and the city of Leipzig. The Jury will held a General Assembly at the Bach Archiv, visit the main musical sites of the city as well as the Blüthner factory. The Jury members also will attend several concerts, among them one by the Gewandhaus Orchestra which will host the Award Ceremony and Gala Concert in 2017.

Danish National Chamber Orchestra Is Kept Alive

Private donations and crowd funding were successful: the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, which was disbanded at the end of last year by the Danish Radio Corporation, has raised in a very short time enough money to bring the orchestra back on the podium. The orchestra’s chief conductor Adam Fischer will conduct the first benefit concert on 1 February. He will also take part in ICMA’s Gala concert with the Bilkent Orchestra on 28 March in Ankara. Fischer and the Danish National Chamber Orchestra won the Best Collection Award for their Complete Mozart Symphonies on Dacapo.

New Interview with Young Artist Of The Year Yury Revich

Yury Revich

The 23 years old Russian violinist Yury Revich – he is based in Vienna  –  is ICMA’s Young Artist of the Year 2015. Having performed at Carnegie Hall and at La Scala, Musikverein, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and many others, he has his own concert series in Vienna, he is Artistic Director of the European-Russian Society for International Cooperation, he made some successful recordings and lives out his creativity also in filming and painting.  Read our interview in the ‘Intervew’ section.
