Polskie Radio Chopin becomes an ICMA Jury member

The Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) has admitted Polskie Radio Chopin as Jury member. Polskie Radio Chopin was launched in November by the Polish public radio. It is entirely dedicated to classical music and operates 24/24 in the Internet. The name of Chopin in the title is a symbol as well as an axis of the program, but in fact, the radio covers the widest possible range of classical music.

The editor-in-chief of the radio is Prof. Marcin Gmys, one of the most renowned Polish musicologists. Polskie Radio Chopin is represented in the Jury by Jakub Puchalski. Born in 1973 in Wroclaw, he studied musicology, art history, and history. He started to work as a music critic in 1994. Besides working for Polskie Radio Chopin he is a contributor for Tygodnik Powszechny, the most important Polish magazine in the field of culture and especially classical music. He is also an editor of books for the music publisher PWM Edition and for Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina (NIFC – Fryderyk Chopin National Institute).

ICMA President Remy Franck says: « It is important for the ICMA Jury to have a Polish Jury member, considering that Poland is one musically extremely rich country. ICMA already had two Award Ceremonies and Gala Concerts in Poland, so it is more than appropriate to have a Jury member from Poland. We have been working on this issue since several years, and we are very satisfied to have found the best possible result for our goal. »

With Polskie Radio Chopin, the ICMA Jury has now 18 members from 15 countries.
