The ICMA 2014 nomination list is available. « This list comprises all the initial choices submitted by at least two Jury members and clearly reflects the international character of our Awards. The list comprises 264 CD and DVD releases of a total of 94 labels, up from 86 competing in 2013 », said ICMA President Remy Franck.

The winners will be announced early in 2014.

With 18 nominations, the French label Harmonia Mundi is on the first place, followed by Audite (14), Sony Classical being the third with 12 nominations. The final result with the winners will be published early in 2014. The Award Ceremony and Gala concert will take place during the Beethoven Festival in Warsaw, on the 12^th of April, with the Polish Iuventus Orchestra conducted by José Maria Florêncio.

ICMA Winner Christopher Nupen is looking for partners to produce both a portrait film and a performance film about Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov, as Allegro Films has done so effectively with several other top musicians in the past. « Those who join this project will be happy », said Nupen. A film about Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki has been presented in Leipzig. On the occasion of Penderecki’s 80^th birthday, this film portraits the artist with a comprehensive ‘work in progress’ documentary: despite his growing age, Penderecki, ICMA Lifetime Achievement Award winner in 2011,  is still an unflinching and active composer and conductor. The First International Sergey Rachmaninov Award has been awarded to Italian pianist and conductor Epifanio Comis, professor at Bellini State Conservatory and  Accademia Pianistica Siciliana in Catania. While attending the inauguration of the Liszt Academy’s concert center in Budapest on te 22^nd of October, Jury members Bernadette Beyne (Crescendo), Remy Franck (Pizzicato) and Pierre-Jean Tribot (ResMusica) had the opportunity to meet David Hurwitz from ClassicsToday.com, the founder and president of the Cannes Classical Awards. This jury later became – without Mr. Hurwitz – the Midem Classical Awards and subsequently the ICMA Jury. From the initial members of the Cannes Classical Awards Jury a few survived all the forms our Jury has taken: Crescendo, Gramofon, Musica, Pizzicato and Scherzo.

The ICMA Jury was well represented at the inauguration of the Liszt Academy’s  new concert center in Budapest on the 22^nd October. Jury members Bernadette Beyne (Crescendo). Aarno Cronvall (Classic Radio), Remy Franck (Pizzicato) and Pierre-Jean Tribot (ResMusica) attended the International press conference and the Grand Opening Gala. One of the most distinguished pianists, Martha Argerich, recently wrote very supportive message about the winner of ICMA’s ‘Young Artist of the Year 2013’, pianist Alessandro Mazzamuto from Sicily: « Alessandro Mazzamuto is an outstanding and marvelous musician. He is one of the most extraordinary pianists I have had the joy to hear. I first heard him playing in Bolzano and I invited him to perform in my festival in Lugano. His technique is absolutely extraordinary and brilliant. His music making is just wonderful! He played one of the greatest recitals I have recently heard.
